A man who told his ex-partner he’d changed threatened to ‘smoke her’ minutes later while banging on her door.
Brian Dolan, who was in a brief relationship with the woman, told her: “I will kick your door down, I will smoke you all. Why do you think I have gloves on?”
Prosecutor Katherine Wright told Manchester Crown Court the 35-year-old was asked by the woman if he had a gun. He told her he did.

The court heard he continually messaged the woman’s teenage daughter trying to speak to her. As he raged outside her home, police were called and he was arrested.
He initially denied wrongdoing, but later pleaded guilty to making threats to kill and stalking. In a statement, the woman said she wanted to move out of Manchester.
“He wouldn’t stop. This has had a massive impact on my mental health.”

Ms Wright told the court of Dolan’s extensive criminal record. He has been convicted of domestic offences against five ex-partners, with charges including harassment; possession of an offensive weapon; and violent offences.
“The police have detailed previous call outs and a history of domestic violence against five previous partners,” Judge Kate Cornell added.
Dolan’s lawyer Tania Elahi said he was ‘remorseful and ashamed’, adding: “He is genuinely disappointed in himself.” Dolan was said to have been jobless at the time and struggling with depression and PTSD following an ‘unprovoked’ attack in 2009.
“You sought to blame your victim,” the judge told him. “You need to look at the ways you are conducting yourself when you do not get what you want immediately. It’s not all about you, but the impact you have on other people.”
Sobbing, Dolan – of Lindleywood Road, Fallowfield – was jailed for a year and four months, suspended for 16 months. He was ordered to complete 10 days of rehabilitation activity requirements and 150 hours unpaid work.
He was banned from contacting his ex under the terms of a 10-year restraining order.
