AN arrest warrant has been issued to locate a woman charged with the theft of a wallet from a Warrington pensioner.
Geta Marin, 20, from Scunthorpe, was an accomplice in a distraction theft which she carried out with her co-defendant Iulian Vladu, 47, also of Scunthorpe, back on October 16, 2023, in Warrington town centre.
The incident saw an 80-year-old man approached by a woman who stopped him and spoke to him in a language which he did not understand.
At the same time, a man appeared and bumped into him, with the victim later noticing that his wallet had been taken.
The matter was reported to police who recovered CCTV footage of the pair and the vehicle that they travelled in to Warrington.
A marker was placed on the vehicle and on Thursday, October 26 of that year, officers from West Yorkshire Police arrested Vladu and Marin after stopping their car on the M62.
Officers from Cheshire Police attended Bradford Custody suite and both offenders were charged in relation to the theft. The pair were released on bail, and later failed to attend court.
While Vladu has recently been sentenced for his part in the offence, Marin still remains missing.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: “A warrant for the arrest of Geta Marin remains active and anyone with any information in relation to her whereabouts is urged to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting 23001015475.”
