‘We know he will be with us’: Bury festival to be dedicated to well known musician

A Bury town centre music festival will be dedicated to a well-loved borough musician at its event this year.

Glaston-BURY has been a staple in the town’s cultural calendar since it was launched 18 years ago and has raised more than £300,000 for Bury Hospice and other charities.

This year, the festival will be staged across the town centre on bank holiday Monday, August 25 and will be dedicated to the memory of Steve Rogers, 62, who was known as Steve Ferringo, following his death in October last year.

The frontman of The Steve Ferringo Band started Ferringo Fest in Bury to fundraise for cancer charities Macmillan and NorthCare after the death of his wife Ange Rogers in April 2015.

He was diagnosed with cancer just a month after Ange’s passing and underwent successful treatment.

The cancer returned to his spine and lungs around two years ago and led to his death.

This year, the festival will be donating 10 per cent of the money raised to the causes that Steve supported through Ferringo Fest.

“This year, we are celebrating 18 years of Glaston-BURY and will be proudly dedicating the whole event to the memory of our friend Steve Rogers, aka Steve Ferringo.

“Nothing will ease the pain of his passing, but we know that he will be with us this year as he always has been…just in a different way.

“He would love to see you all having an absolute ball, so let’s make 2025 amazing for Steve.
