West Ham United have confirmed that they will be without key player Jarrod Bowen for this weekend’s Premier League clash against Manchester City.
The winger was forced off the pitch after an hour of Sunday’s 5-0 home defeat against Liverpool due to injury. It’s now been confirmed by the club that he will face some time on the sidelines after suffering a fractured foot.
In a statement released on the club website, the Hammers wrote: “West Ham United can confirm Jarrod Bowen sustained a fractured foot injury in Sunday’s Premier League fixture against Liverpool. The injury to his left foot, picked up in the first half at London Stadium, will sideline the Hammers captain heading into the New Year.”

Bowen himself has also confirmed the injury, writing on Instagram: “Unfortunately in the first half of our game on Sunday I suffered a fracture to a bone in my foot. As always I tried to fight on & continue playing until I physically couldn’t. Injuries happen in football but I’m already looking forward to getting back out there as soon as possible. See you all soon!”
While no timeline on the return has been given, Bowen will be unavailable for the weekend’s clash against City. Pep Guardiola’s side will be looking to build on a 2-0 win over Leicester City in their last outing.
The win ended a run of five games in all competitions without a win. It also saw Erling Haaland get back on the scoresheet.
The injury to Bowen is a big blow to a Hammers side who will be low on confidence following defeat against Liverpool. It was a result and performance that reignited talk over the future of head coach Julen Lopetegui.
Bowen has been a key player for West Ham since moving from Hull City in January 2020. This season he has started every Premier League game, scoring five goals and providing four assists.
