New Year’s Eve wouldn’t feel like New Year’s Eve without Jools Holland appearing on our TV screens for his annual hootenanny.
Each year Jools counts down the seconds to midnight with a stellar line-up of artists and a celebrity audience to offer predictions and resolutions for the coming year.
And this year is no different. You can join Jools, his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, and his special guests from 11.30pm on BBC Two and iPlayer on Tuesday 31 December 2023.

Jools has an eclectic line up of guests to celebrate the new year. There will be performances from a mix of legends, brand new stars and artists who have had huge success in 2024.
Performing on the show will be The Boomtown Rats, CMAT, Jade, Jungle, Kathy Sledge, Marc Almond, Paul Carrack, Roger Taylor of Queen, Ruby Turner, Toby Lee, and The Dead South.
Due to that fantastic line up, you may be wondering how Jools and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra managed to get quite so many celebs in a television studio on a night when you would expect them to have other plans.
Well, in reality the show is pre-recorded – despite the appearance that it is live with a countdown to midnight and plenty of festive cheer.
The Hootenanny gets recorded at Maidstone Studios in Kent earlier on in December.
