Young East Lancs actors urged to audition for National Youth Theatre

The National Youth Theatre (NYT) is inviting young actors from East Lancashire to audition for its 2025 productions.

The prestigious theatre group, which has helped launch the careers of stars such as Daniel Craig and Helen Mirren, has announced its biggest round of free nationwide auditions.

The auditions will take place across 14 UK cities, including Manchester and Liverpool, and are open to all young people aged 14 to 25, with disabled young people able to audition up to the age of 30.

Liverpool auditions will take place on March 15 at LIPA, while Manchester auditions will take place on March 15 and March 22 at Contact Theatre.

Young people can also send a video audition online from wherever they are based in the UK.

To apply via the digital auditions route, auditionees need to record a video of themselves performing a monologue and answering a series of questions listed on the NYT website at nyt.org.uk/auditions/digital

This year, the NYT is introducing the Audition Choice Award, which will see two outstanding individuals from each location receive a free course of study with the NYT.

There will also be two recipients selected from online auditionees, and a school with stand-out talent will also be recognised.

“We’re offering free auditions at more locations than ever before this year.

“At every location, our new Audition Choice Award will offer a completely free place to a stand-out auditionee.

“In addition to our already extensive free offer, we’re adding this extra element to recognise outstanding talent at each of our audition days around the UK.”
